Facial fillers work by strategically paralyzing certain small facial muscles. When the muscles relax, this allows the skin to be smoothed out, and softens wrinkles. Because fillers paralyzes some facial muscles, it is also used for other issues like twitching eyelids. Skin rejuvenation also prevents sweat glands from functioning normally, which is useful for treating excessive facial sweating.
Skin rejuvenation treatment at OG Dental is a fast and easy procedure. One of our estheticians will assess your face, looking for wrinkles, crows feet, and laugh lines that can be treated with fillers. Then, using an extremely fine needle, filler is injected into specific areas. Anesthesia and numbing are not required. It takes around 3-7 days for the procedure to take full effect, and the treatment can last up to half a year.
Skin rejuvenation treatment is completely safe when administered by a professional esthetician. Side effects are extremely rare, but if they occur they can include temporary bruising. This side effect can be reduced by discontinuing the consumption of alcohol at least a week before treatment, and avoiding NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for at least two weeks before treatment.
Other rare side effects include headaches, which usually resolve within 48 hours, and eyelid drooping, which only occurs if the filler is moved after injection. To avoid eyelid drooping, do not rub the treated area for at least 12 hours post-injection, and avoid laying down for at least 4 hours after treatment.
This depends on why you are getting the injections. If you are receiving skin rejuvenation to help with a legitimate medical condition, such as the treatment of migraines, most insurance plans will cover the procedure. If your treatment is purely for cosmetic purposes, your insurance carrier will likely not cover the cost of treatment. Check with your insurance provider for details.
